Now I Understand
As I mentioned in the previous post, I couldn't understand why a certain Cactus Wren had taken to perching close by when I was in my usual sundown spot. I decided to investigate and after a while I spotted what I suspected to be the reason, tucked away amongst the spines of a cholla. I moved away but stopped to watch and sure enough, as soon as she felt I was a safe distance away the Cactus Wren slipped quietly into her nest, mystery solved.

Great find, nice to see the nest nearby!
That is one spiny place for a nest! Good protection!
Thanks Eileen, I was delighted.
Absolutely Roberta. No one is getting in there without ending up like a porcupine!
Hi Celeste
Very interesting post that is one secure bird.
Guy
Isn't it Guy? I can't imagine any predators successfully getting through those battlements!
What a beautiful nest!
Isn't it amazing Kathie? So well protected.
