Secrets Revealed - Part Three

The third in my series is the kitchen cam. This is the camera closest to the house but it has the highest amount of traffic so I have split it into two posts. Here is the first half............

Foxy!

I knew we had been having regular visits from a Gray Fox for the past couple of months, our wildlife cameras were picking up images of him trotting about at night. Now he has decided that it is OK to stroll around in the broad daylight too I see!

Here is the same image zoomed in a little. What a handsome chap, and yes, yet another new yard species!

Just Passing Through

We have a particularly handsome coyote that passes through our land on an almost daily basis. Sometimes I see him in person and sometimes he is captured trotting past one of our wildlife cameras.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!

It is those little private moments that the wildlife camera is so great for. Admittedly they are not the greatest of photos but considering it was pitch dark outside they aren't so bad. Our regular pack of Javalinas has gotten a little bigger of late with the arrival of these two little charmers. Baby Javalinas are called Reds and they characteristically feed from the behind their mother as seen here.

The Land of Extremes

I enjoy seeing which animals show up on our wildlife cameras but they are also interesting just for observing the seasons. The desert can be a very inhospitable place when it heats up.

But it isn't all blue skies and high temperatures. When it rains it doesn't tend to do things in half measures!

Flying Rabbits!

Sometimes when I download the images from my wildlife cameras it takes me a minute to work out what it is that the camera snapped, in this instance I had to zoom in a little.

Alternative Santa

This handsome fellow was captured outside our dining room window by my wildlife camera, I thought he looked very festive wearing his warm red winter suit.

Winter Visitor Part Two

The great thing about wildlife cameras is they work in total darkness without a flash, so again, a totally natural image. Just passing through.

Winter Visitor

I have some wildlife cameras around our property. A lot of the time they capture images of quail and doves but occasionally something else puts in an appearance. I like using these cameras because the images are totally natural, the animals demeanour is not influenced by a proximity to a photographer. Check out this handsome fellow.

Mystery Solved

I love my wildlife camera, the delight of discovering what has been captured in a situation not influenced by my presence is great fun.

Recently something has been using the camera as a perch and I have been very curious to discover what it was.

Well finally, all was revealed in rather a breathtaking image!  INCOMING!!!

A Family Visit

We popped out for dinner the night before last and while we were out my wildlife camera captured a family visit. When I first saw the picture I only noticed three Javalina, it wasn't until I cropped it that I spotted the fourth.

Just Passing Through

I posted about my wildlife camera earlier this year. It is a bit like Christmas, you leave it alone for a few weeks then take out the memory card and download the images to see what has passed by when you weren't looking! I love the surprises. Some of them are pretty predictable like the ever present rabbits.

Some are very shy like the gentle deer. Was she looking in through the kitchen window that morning I wonder?

The javalinas almost always come by at night, I've only seen them once in the daylight so without my wildlife camera I would never know they had been here. (Can you see the second one in the background?)

And the cheeky Roadrunner strolls about with his tail in the air just whenever it suits him!

I wouldn't have it any other way.
