Blue and Grey

What a beautiful morning. I wonder what was going on between this female Phainopepla and Northern Mockingbird. Maybe she was asking when he was going to start his migration?

Mr & Mrs

Just in time for Valentines Day...........
Black as jet, the male Phainopepla gleams in the early morning sun.

The female has a much softer grey hue.
When not obligingly posing for photos, both of them are happily feasting on the mistletoe which is fruiting right now.

Bed Head

As usual I had run outside with my camera as soon as the sun had come up so my hair style was remarkably similar to this Phainopepla when I took this photo. What a good thing I was the one with the camera!

The bird with no name

Every species is classified with a 'scientific name', usually of Latin or Greek origins and then it usually has at least one 'common name'. But not this particular individual, it is stuck with Phainopepla! Maybe I'll start calling them Phil, or in this case, Phylis!
