There's an Alien in My Tree!

Considering how inconspicuous the moth is, this rather daunting caterpillar more than makes up for it. This armour-plated behemoth is soon to be a Hubbards Small Silkmoth. I must say, if I was a bird I would think long and hard before trying to catch this guy!

What a cool looking caterpillar! It looks like it could take care of itself with the armor plate.
Cool sighting, have a great day!

It is a pretty impressive creature isn't it Eileen? I certainly wouldn't fancy eating it!!!

It is pretty bizarre isn't it Roberta. Mother nature does come up with some pretty outrageous designs. Maybe it could be an inspiration for one of your art pieces?

My sentiments exactly Kathie!

I find a few of the Hubbards moths under my porch light each summer, but I've never seen the caterpillar. It looks awesome with the armour, great picture!

Thanks Diane. I've seen the moth too but who would think that a relatively inconspicuous moth would have such a crazy looking caterpillar? Looks like a sci-fi invention :)
