Secrets Revealed - Part Three

The third in my series is the kitchen cam. This is the camera closest to the house but it has the highest amount of traffic so I have split it into two posts. Here is the first half............

Secrets Revealed - Part Two

The second in my series of wildlife camera shots, here are a selection of critters from the last couple of months captured by our carport cam.

And of course, 'meep, meep' had to put in an appearance.

It is those little private moments that the wildlife camera is so great for. Admittedly they are not the greatest of photos but considering it was pitch dark outside they aren't so bad. Our regular pack of Javalinas has gotten a little bigger of late with the arrival of these two little charmers. Baby Javalinas are called Reds and they characteristically feed from the behind their mother as seen here.

A Family Visit

We popped out for dinner the night before last and while we were out my wildlife camera captured a family visit. When I first saw the picture I only noticed three Javalina, it wasn't until I cropped it that I spotted the fourth.

Just Passing Through

I posted about my wildlife camera earlier this year. It is a bit like Christmas, you leave it alone for a few weeks then take out the memory card and download the images to see what has passed by when you weren't looking! I love the surprises. Some of them are pretty predictable like the ever present rabbits.

Some are very shy like the gentle deer. Was she looking in through the kitchen window that morning I wonder?

The javalinas almost always come by at night, I've only seen them once in the daylight so without my wildlife camera I would never know they had been here. (Can you see the second one in the background?)

And the cheeky Roadrunner strolls about with his tail in the air just whenever it suits him!

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Wildlife Cam

These photos are not going to win any prizes for composition or clarity but I am enjoying my new wildlife camera. My Hubby bought it for me for Christmas but, as with all these things, it took me a while to get round to setting it up. I like the idea of something taking pictures of the animals without disturbing them. I haven't captured too much with it yet but it's early days.
The usual passers by are the ever present Gambel's Quails

Next most frequently snapped are the rabbits - spot the ears!

And soon follows the rest of him

Another pair of ears kept me guessing, I thought it might be the Bobcat but they usually have white patches on the back of their ears so I will have to wait and see if the rest of it puts in an appearance sometime soon.

 It captures night time visitors too. Don't the Javalinas look foreboding in the dark?

Then there is the member of the household who just can't seem to remember that the camera is on!

Hmmmm can't seem to find this species in any of my field guides!

Very Blurry Proof

There seems to be a local joke in Tuscon that if you spend more than 5 thousand dollars on landscaping you will get Javalinas in your yard. Well we haven't spent anything on landscaping and I was beginning to think there was some truth to this strange myth.
I know these are awful pictures but it was six o'clock in the morning and I was running back and forth trying to take a photo through the window screening.
We had been finding evidence of Javalina in our yard all year but never caught a glimpse of them until now, so until I get a better sighting these blurred images will have to suffice to catalog a Javalina visit - and no landscaping damage done either!
