Cousins
Today was a red bird day, first the beautiful Pyrrhuloxia stopped by to brighten my morning,
I just love his striking colouration.
And then, not to be outdone, his flamboyant cousin dropped by for a visit too.
You and Kathie Brown have both posted photos of this- yet for all the times I've been in southeast Arizona I've never seen one. I still Want to! Great photos!
You saw them both on the same day! I am so envious. I can still remember so well the first time we saw each of those beauties. (Neither of them are in Oregon where we lived and started bird watching.) (I have seen cardinals here in Florida, but not the pyrrhuloxia...we saw them first when we spent winters in AZ.

What a beautifully colored bird and I didn't know it was related to a cardinal..Thank you for adding some red to Nature Notes Celeste...Michelle

Thanks for the beautiful pix and the memories.
Thanks Michelle. They make quite a stunning family don't they?
Wow Doug, that is amazing with the amount of time you spend in AZ. You'll have to come and hang out in my yard more often :)
Thanks Sallie, they always brighten my day with their flamboyant colours :)
